ABOUT UNJUSTIFIED RISK

“More than just a brand”

THE BRAND

New Zealand owned and operated, I developed Unjustified Risk to represent our passions for hunting, farming, fishing and the outdoors along with the love for anything kiwi in a “wearable” art form. These passions are what brings so many New Zealanders together, whether it be family, friends or strangers. I believe in sharing our love for hunting, farming, and the outdoors so our beautiful country and it’s bountiful amount of food can be enjoyed by our future generations.

I believe in keeping my business as “Kiwi as”, and that is why everything is completed by local New Zealand companies (printing, leggings, fine art prints, stickers and hats).

THE MIND

Born and raised in Whakatane, I grew up with a can do/never leave any stone unturned mindset and this is what has given me the experiences that have made me the person I am today. From a young age I pursued my passion for golf which I represented New Zealand for nearly 10 years. After high school I joined the Royal New Zealand Navy for two and a half years. Following this I went to The Ohio State University in America on a golf scholarship where I studied fine arts and minored in art history in which I graduated with honours. Following graduation I worked for three years as an art teacher at Oakstone Academy which is a school for children with autism spectrum disorder. In 2020 I moved home to New Zealand to be back with my home roots. Family. Hunting. The outdoors. And the Kiwi way of life.

Enjoy!

THE STORY

Known for my artistic side and while sitting around yarning with friends, I was encouraged to start a clothing brand that takes my love for art and combine it with my passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors. I have never shied away from a new challenge, so I have put my heart into creating clothing for you that is totally unique from anything else around. Each design is hand drawn by me to capture what represents us as New Zealanders. The name “Unjustified Risk” reflects the idea that the reward or outcome will always be greater than the risk we take.

A lot of my inspiration is derived from my own personal experiences as someone who loves hunting, fishing, the outdoors and farming lifestyle. Being someone who strives for perfectionism, this is reflected in my art with my attention to detail. In contrast to this, I also try to convey my Kiwi sense of humour with some quirky designs as well.
